I had this for a year. After pursuing every medical option... and getting no relief... I decided to try a theory I had. It was originally called a "heel spurr" until some medical study came up with the idea that it due to a tight ligament. I think that is incorrect and why things based on that don't work. I believe it is the heel spurr. I had tried arch support ibuprofen, and even packing the area with padding.
In your body when you bruise a bone or put pressure on one, your body sends calcium to the area to allow it to heal. If your body sends too much calcium or the calcium doesn't go away that starts causing pain. The heel seems a particular danger spot for this calcium accumulation to continue to cause a never ending cycle of irritation / calcium / etc.
So I took a reasonable guess that anything that would help absorb the extra calcium would get rid of it. Every day I drank a cup of apple cider vinegar in water. Apple cider vinegar is loaded with magnesium (which helps absorb calcium). Be careful to drink it diluted in water and via a straw not to hurt your teeth.
And yes.. it went away fast. When an entire year nothing worked.
Then later that year I woke up with a similar pain in one of my hips- in the waist area, the only possible explanation is that I had put pressure on it in bed. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar and yes.. it worked again.
From then on I have used magnesium, K2 and eaten less calcium to avoid such issues and I have never had that problem again.
