This really stood out to me. Maybe try someone else and see how that feels? Four years of "mindbattles" is an awful long time. And you are still seeing him. So what is it that draws you back to his office every week? The fact that so much seems familiar ie a pattern that you know and recognize? Maybe he simply isn't the right fit for you, to get through to you.
Or you take a leap of faith and start talking about those feelings and see what happens... It'll be not the end of the world, I promise.
