Yes, I think the article was scare mongering. She wasn't very specific, gave no references in support of her "facts" and I went looking hard to see about accidentally injury during SI and could find nothing but this article! I think she made it up, having never SI'd herself or known many clients who had (obviously).

That's not to say someone should go ahead and cut anyway, that it's safe and good! And that you were frightened by the article, Gabriel, might be a good thing for you, an "awareness" wake-up call that there's more out there related to SI than just "release" of your pain. There are other ways to release pain, to deal with it, resolve it; that the SIing has a "root" also that is not the SIing itself that needs addressing.

Don't let other people with their own agendas dictate what you want and what you think and do. They might "inform" you but if you don't like what they say, don't agree with it or it is not something you're comfortable with, let it go. If it "sticks" and has trouble being let go of, look at why it sticks, what's going on underneath for you. But it's a "thing" and things outside of you cannot hurt you! You're in charge of you. What you say/decide/think/feel, etc., goes.
