puzzclar.... I just wrote out a very long post with lots of examples of what dissociation is and symptoms of the disorder in general for you...

but then I decided to check out your past posts so I can relate my reply to you (hey I know I can get a bit wordy and such ...)

when I went back to reading your past posts.....I discovered an interesting thing...in more than one of them you stated you have a bachelors degree in psychology....

there goes my generalized post on what is dissociation and symptoms and relating it to your posted situation...heres why...

anyone with a bachelors degree in psychology has the knowledge of what dissociation is, what the symptoms for it are and whether they have dissociation problems or not.

anyone with a bachelors degree in psychology knows how and why they used the word dissociation in their therapy session. this isnt a situation of a teen ager not knowing medical/ mental health terms and throwing terms around with out knowing what they are and whether they apply to their life, like i originally thought.

so now my post is a bit different, to the point an shorter....

knowing that you are a psychology graduate my suggestion would be just tell your treatment provider how and why you said the word dissociation and how it applies to you and your life.

dont take your treatment provider for a fool. they have taken the same courses that you did to get your bachelors degree,

what it boils down to is that since you do have a bachelors degree in psychology, of course they are going to expect you to explain what you mean on the same level that you have for education and vocabulary that you are using with them.

just be honest with them.

Also wanted to add.... the examples that another poster gave you of hovering over body here where I am and with in ....me....is called near death experience, feeling like a million miles in my head is called psychosis with in me, feeling/ believing my head is out the window in me is called hallucinations and medication side effects.

these listed symptoms come with many different normal, mental and physical health problems, not always called dissociation.
