Hi,

It's been a few years since I've been hospitalized for any reason, but if this will bring you any comfort, I'll say that it's been my observation from having been hospitalized in the past that it isn't uncommon for those who work at hospitals to say and do things to patients that are hurtful or even downright abusive. There might sometimes be explanations as to why those who work in hospitals sometimes say things that are hurtful toward patients who stay in hospitals, but no explanation can change the fact that telling you that your parents don't care about you or saying other hurtful things to you is the wrong thing to do and is something that nobody deserves to have told to them. I know that it's part of a therapist's job to help their clients understand how the things that they say and do might affect the way that others are toward them, but I don't think that any behavior from you toward the staff of the hospital that you stayed in could justify being so disrespectful toward you as to say that your parents don't care about you. You deserve better than to have had that told to you, as does anyone, and I think it's unfortunate that your therapist didn't seem to have seen things that way. I wish you luck with finding a new therapist who you'll hopefully find to be more understanding and who will otherwise serve you well.
