I live in New York too, but a little farther away from you, as I am closer to the city. I am really afraid to meet people in real life at this point in my life. I hope you find some comfort soon so you are not so lonely.

I would try Meetup.com and see if there are any meetups in your area that you are interested in. They have different meetups for different things, books, music, cooking, art, etc. Something that is really fun is Paint Night, but I don't know what your budget is.
