Ok, I have steered away from this thread up till now because yes 'humor' can be harmful.

As a child my so called carers would make great fun of me, yes they thought it was funny. The grown-ups made fun of a child. Not funny at all and very hurtful.

True humor to me is when we laugh with someone NOT at someone.

All children will laugh at silly things that happen, and this is good. As adults when we laugh it is because the child-part within us can see the silliness and it sure is good for us to be able to laugh. Indeed it can be very healing. My T will often use humor near the end of a session so that I can go back out and face the world.

Let's be mindful that some humor can trigger and is harmful but let's enjoy and rejoice that we can still enjoy and laugh.
