I've known people to do this, mainly because they want to try and understand

no.. it's what they say, I just want to try and understand- and i'm usually like how's pretending you have an illness making you understand?

Possible trigger:

I knew someone at 1 stage who faked her suicide.

it was on an old support group, and she got her friend to send round news reporters and everything to break the story

only to find out 3 months later she wasn't dead.. she came back on the group and said, ah, well, I just wanted to see what all your reaction would be if I did it

it was very disturbing indeed, and actually made me leave that group.

I have also known someone to fake cancer and get loads of free stuff because of it
