Some self-parenting like self-soothing can be done though. Like talking to myself in a loving way, react how I wanted my parents to react.
That works when you love yourself...when you can be compassionate towards yourself. When you believe you are bad you can't really do this. So that is something that could be worked on. To believe you deserve the self-caring. Because you do.
