I have taken this medication before, and it greatly helped my attention and ability to focus. I believe it is prescribed mainly for helping people whose other meds may cause drowsiness, to help stay awake, and to focus. I have never heard of using it to help the urge to cut, but if you do a search on Google you can probably find a lot of information about it.
