This may sound weird, but I'll say it anyway.

I don't really "see" them, but I can "feel see" them. I can't explain it because I don't have the words. It's more like a "knowing" of them and there is an image there that I can't really see. I feel it more than visually seeing it.

That may not make any sense at all. I almost deleted it, but it may make sense to someone else that "sees" this way.
