Hello Michellejiggy: Unfortunately I can't be of any help with this. It sounds as though you're having panic attacks. I don't know why, after 30 years, you'd begin panicking while driving. But I know these sorts of things happen. I'm an older person & retired. Back when I was working I used to drive as a part of my work & I enjoyed it. But I gave up driving probably going on 10 years ago now. I presume I could do it if I needed to. But I don't want to.

The usual approach to treating this sort of problem, I believe, is "exposure therapy". California therapist Kati Morton has a video on her YouTube channel regarding exposure therapy. And I recall her saying that it's very important to find a therapist who is experienced with.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!
