oh I use a (very) low dose benzo PRN I just think the trouble is with the high doses. also yes klonopin helps bring ppl down and "control" symptoms but it's not a core treatment or anti manic drug. my Dr calls it a bandaid but not a fix.
they prob used it before atypicals because it would make some one atleast sleep off a psychosis but really they put everybody on lithium back then anywAy and antipsychotics were used much less in BP
antipsychotics were used much less in general
now they are one of the best selling meds on the market so make of that what you will
