It's pretty unsettling and I'm "off" trying to figure out what's going on and center myself.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
yes. I have that de javu feeling after waking up from a dream. what I learned that its normal part of life and how the brain technically works. short version according to a sleep study I went through dreams are a combination of our emotions, senses and things we go through. The human brain only uses a percentage of its mass therefore when dreaming the brain weeds out what isnt important at that moment but sometimes stores it for later if it some how applies to other stored information. I think of my brains process like a computer, every website I visit a piece of that website in the form of cookies, thumbnails....gets stored somewhere on my computer for use later or deletion later) if the brain didnt do this natural process then I can only imagine all the different life experiences and emotions that would be cluttering up my mind making it impossible for me to function every day and move on with my life. one of the sleep study attendants told me can you imagine being mentally and physically permanently stuck taking a college exam because the brain wasnt doing its desk top cleaning process. sounds funny and scary at the same time to me.

Im not saying waking up feeling de javu and cant remember the dream isnt unsettling / upsetting because it is sometimes. just thought you would like to know what I went through and learned so that it may help you to be able to move on beyond worrying about it. now that I know its just how the brain does its desktop cleaning, cleaning cache, cookies and so on its easier for me to wake up and say on the computer is at it again and get up and on with my day with out having intrusive thoughts about it trying to remember the dream and it interfering with my day.
Thanks for this!
