Have you heard of the "Catastrophic Thinking" style? I was the 'queen' of this. I learnt some skills in CBT that have helped a great deal to challenge this. Another thing you can do is ask yourself if thinking that way is an advantage. Compare that to the list of disadvantages. That helps me cope.
