I found myself in a simiar situation. It wasn't with divorce, but it WAS a very scary situation for me. I was unable to take the first few steps alone. I couldn't make decisions and didn't trust myself. Having somebody I trusted (my step-father) along with me during this time helped me find the strength I needed. There is nothing wrong with this. There is a big difference between having somebody tell you what to do and having somebody you trust by your side. Each time you make a decision on your own (with support), you gain a little more self-confidence. Sounds like that is what your T wants for you.
