Started thinking about this after seeing the news about Nebraska (I know it was a mall, not a school, but the pictures of the ambulances...) - why is it that nobody talks about "the rest of us"? The people who were there, but not there (in the building, not in the room), who didn't lose any friends or relatives, yet are still affected by what happened.

I find the silence on this subject strange:
Are there no others
Who suffered no loss
Yet still feel pain?
Perhaps, like me,
They are ashamed:
The right to sympathy - to help -
They feel they have not gained.
