The Holter monitor is a heart monitor that they hooked me up to in the office before I left. I had to wear it for 24 hrs. So basically, I had wires under my shirt (a lot like the EKG set up), that went to a box that could hang off a belt or go into a pocket. I had to keep a record for that time, with times and descriptions, anytime I felt odd, like my heart rate was going up, anxious or more anxious, if I took any over the counter stuff, when I took my normal meds, and so on. I had to go back the next day to return the monitor, but they said I could remove the leads when the 24hrs was over, and turn it off, so i didn't have to come back right at 24hrs later.

There are other monitors they can do also. My mom had one that she wore for 3 days, that just measured her pulse I think. It kind of stuck on her chest, no wires tho.

My pdoc suggested that I go, and I got the referral from my GO. My insurance, I don't need an official referral, but it's always easier for the docs.
