Perna is Latin for "pearl" or oyster or something along those lines I think :-) But, appears could be "ham" as in "green eggs and. . ."? http://www.bolchazy.com/prod.php?cat=latin&id=5556

Now I'm totally confused; is pierna in Spanish which is "leg"? Is that anything like a leg of ham?

Wait a minute! Reprieve; it's "Latin from Greek which was probably borrowed from Sanskrit"! No wonder I was confused.
