But back to the "me first" thing. I went on a cruise a year ago. I was my usual polite self, waiting for others to go by before I crossed paths to where I was headed. And not one other person returned the favor. I figured out that either it was the international nature of the ship, and politeness in their culture didn't include waiting. Or, they were veterans and knew not to hesitate when you're headed for chow.
