ive heard the theory, uncertain about it myself, that music can please, as well as sustain emotion...
ive heard it put forward that listeners of "classical" (Mozart, Bach, Hayden... etc) are usually upper class, educated, social "pillars" ...
that listeners of rock and roll are usually made up of working class...
i wonder, by listening to the music and as our senses are stroked, if there is any truth to those theories...
the drumbeat in music is said to alter heartbeat.. guitar and other instruments excite the senses... a cacophony of sensations...
and what about the subliminal? like commercials, do we subliminally act out on our musical fantasies in the course of everyday life...
often, i find a melody stuck in my mind... no apparant reason, but is there a reason? is it a calming or empowering tune?
often, i find myself in a conflict or difficult situation... a songs words will provide some insight into understanding and provide compulsion for action...
i wonder... are musicians often aware of the powerful effects the music will have?
are we being controlled by our own music choices? someone in the thread mentioned listening to the same song and the feelings of sadness it brings... i have experienced the same myself..
can we get happier just by changing the song?
please continue provinding your thoughts... thank you everyone...
