Sorry it hasn't been quick enough for you. I assure you, the best effort is taken to ensure everybody gets seem to in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the moderators and administrators aren't paid; they also lead lives themselves, perhaps with issues of their own to cope with.

The reason, as is probably already pointed out, is that it helps filter out spam and any other inappropriate content.
