Does it only have to be published once? Again - here (and each state is different) publication has to appear more than once for certain matters and then there is a time for X to respond after publication.
So, for example, publication of the opening of an estate has to be published 4 times and the creditors have 6 mos to file a claim.
Example of a service by publication rule of civil procedure:
"The notice shall be published at least once each week for four consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published in the county where the civil action is commenced designated by the party requesting publication."
That sort of thing. So the next step does not take place until publication and X time to then respond.
