I don't think it is an intimate relationship. At most, it is a business relationship that sets out to create the illusion of an intimate relationship on the part of a client.
And I don't have a problem if both parties are going to be formal/both address each other by last name -but there's no way in hell I would address a therapist by their title/last name and let them use the familiar with me
