What Donald Trump and Paul Ryan, etc. say/want/propose, etc. is not what will or even can happen. People pointing out pros/cons/etc. are just doing their job of looking at and researching the whole thing from all angles.
It's not really about the cuts as much as about where the money comes from/who pays taxes so who gets benefits. For example, I get my Social Security at my deceased husband's higher level than mine was (almost three times as much) but so does his ex-wife who did not work, the same amount! You can't have one person working, paying taxes and then, after he is deceased the two wives receiving twice as much as he was receiving when he was alive? That's partly why we have a problem. Not everyone receiving SSDI worked for it or put in as much as they are getting out, etc. Most people in this country do not pay ANY taxes but receive benefits. That can't work for long.
