I kinda get upset over this. I receive SSDI. But I have also worked until my lupus prevented me from working.

My son's girlfriend is legally blind and she gets SSI. This upsets me because she was not born in this country and is not a US citizen. SSI is a form of welfare.

If you were married and married for 10 years before you divorced and never remarried you should be able to receive some of your ex husband's SS retirement but I was under the impression that if he remarried and he died you could not receive it his current wife would.
