It's worth at least asking your pdoc for a benzo, although I know they're kind of out of favour these days, especially for addicts. My pdoc prescribes me a benzo at a fairly high dose 3.5 mg / day. But he only writes the prescription for one week at a time, so I only get 7 days worth of meds, which helps me not abuse them.

Another option might be low dose seroquel. It's quite good for anxiety and doesn't have the same dependency / tolerance issues as the benzos.
