So I went and checked out the facility that I am going to be interviewed at. I think the reason why they are interested in me is I have worked with seniors and in subsidized housing before, so they might be interested in that skillset in dealing with those demographics. I'm excited for my own chances, that's for sure.
The thing is, on our practicum, we dealt with the same people, and she did extremely well. The language barrier melted away between her and the patrons. I've seen her really improve, leave her old self behind, and became assertive to the point where when we were asking some of the staff questions, I could barely get a word in...
I've never seen anyone work so hard and show so much improvement in a short period of time, it was really motivating to watch. I'm sure she'll land on her feet and do well, we are keeping in touch. There are plenty of employment opportunities for municipalities out here at the moment.
I don't want to see her loose faith the way I did at one point years ago. It was so difficult for me to go through that, and I don't want to that happen to anyone. I know how excited she is for the future. I really hope she stays the way she is now, and doesn't go back to the very shy person at the beginning of the program.
