I sometimes feel like no one I know personally really appreciates my specific arcane knowledge and my specific skillset... and people sometimes go out of their way to let me know they think my choice of employment is stupid.

But, recently, someone I know socially came into my place of business and asked me specific questions related to my field of expertise, in a way that let me know they were sincerely interested and that they respected my input.
