Any doctor can charge a ridiculous amount but the insurance company will only "allow" a certain amout , Period .

Example I worked for a GP years ago ... His office visit for a new patient was 140.00 .. Most all insurance plans only allowed 89.00 so if a patient had medicare they only pay 20% of the ALLOWABLE charge.

The same way works with people who have copays.

You have to also understand the amount of money a doctor makes might seem like alot .. But the below are things to consider

They have Malpractice insurance to pay.

They pay there staff

They pay rent for the office and all the utilities

They have to pay for supplies for the office

Im just saying that Doctors do not "make" the money they charge.
