I used to be the provider for my family. Then I got sick and couldn't hold a job for squat. I lost my house, my lifestyle, and my career, not necessarily in that order. Thankfully it was just my husband and me at that point---all the kids were grown and on their own. I thought we were going to end up living in a cardboard box behind a strip mall. We almost did. Thank God our son rescued us.
