I entered a retail store where I heard music similar to my own retail store (different company), so I filmed the area so I can record the music and show my friends the coincidence, since we work at the same retail store with the same annoying music.
I left the store and further waited for a friend to arrive. All of a sudden, a man confronts me about filming in his store and started questioning my motives and wanted personal details - specifically my name. I asked him if there's a problem with filming in the store and said it requires permission. Between those moments I told him I can delete the filming if he wants.
Afterwards, when he asked for my name, I uncomfortably told him I did not mean to get into trouble and tried to explain my true motive - showing the coincidence of another store having the same background music. He still suspected and asked where exactly is my retail store and told him where it is. He then said there's another store from my same network and thought I was filming for that nearby store (From there I knew it was competition suspicion). Then he added I was filming curtains and wondered if we also sell curtains, to which I said we don't.
All settled down well, he told me he thought I was sent by the nearby retail store's manager and assured him it's not true. He then said if I ever need anything I can talk to him.
For a feeling of connection purpose I asked his name and introduced mine, shook hands and he repeated the previous statement of "If I ever need anything".
It all felt weird to me, mostly from my side. What do you think of this?
