how a friend explained her DID and reincarnation...

she was not delusional, hallucinating or otherwise. she underwent a therapy technique with her psychiatrist. the technique was called Hypnosis.

short version she was witness to a horrific crime and as part of the court case on this she was court ordered to undergo hypnosis to see if any new details would come to light. At this point it was clear to everyone that she was DID and that due to the dissociation she could not recount details of the crime. in rare cases hypnosis is used to calm and relax the body and mind which makes it easier for some to tell details with out being triggered into their dissociative responses.

this was not a situation of go back in time way back in time made up for tv movies kinds of stuff. this was deep relaxation with the goal of confirming or ruling out already known aspects of the crime.

this was also not just a treatment provider and their client. my friend said there were lawyers and the judge present.

after entering a deep state of relaxation questions were asked just like being in a courtroom under oath. yes and no questions. people under hypnosis do not do or say anything that they would otherwise not say, they have complete awareness and control, they are just deeply relaxed similar to a meditative state of mind.

at one point my friend was asked a question and instead of yes, no reply it was discovered there was memories from another date and time before my friends actual birth. the details given were not anything you can find on the internet but afterwards was discovered to be part of her families history that no one in the present family were aware of. there was no way she could have heard about or otherwise known about these details unless she had experienced them in some way. her legal background history now contains the fact that she could very well be the reincarnation of this person from the Salem witch trials days of long ago, not delusional or hallucinations.

The court situation also revealed that she does in fact have 5 DID alters not counting her memories from long ago. the 5 alters came into being not due to the reincarnation history but due to extreme traumatic abuse before she was 4 years old.

so again it is part of her legal history now that she is not delusional, hallucinating, that she has DID and that before she became DID she may be this person reincarnated.

many people under the budhist religion believe in reincarnation so its not unheard of for someone of that religion to be dual diagnosed at being a reincarnation and having DID.

I am not saying a persons alters are the reincarnation, here where I am the diagnostics rules that situation out. that said I have encountered those that before abuse were or are or are tracing their history with this kind of thing.

bottom line is its not up to me to say someone is or isnt a reincarnation and DID. only their own treatment providers can say that.

my own opinion is a person can be a reincarnation first and then due to extreme traumatic abuse end up with DID too.
