It is our fault if we knowingly step in front of someone who hurts people, like stepping in front of a train or whatever, but it is not our fault when we are hurt because someone else has fallen short of offering whatever we need in order to feel needed, wanted and loved...and that is unless we already know that person is unwilling or unable to provide those things and and we keep expecting them from him or her anyway.

Other than learning how to not end up standing in front of them, there is no defense against people who hurt people any more than we might defend ourselves against a runaway truck. So again, we must simply learn to not vulnerably present ourselves in their paths.

Exactly, and that is part of the proof we all need other people in our lives...and therein lies the challenge of finding the comfort, satisfaction and protection of healthy (altruistic) interactions with other healthy-minded and right-acting people.
