My ex had a friend who didn't struggle particularly with mental health issues, but couldn't keep a job for the life of him. He'd work for a few days or a week at most at a new job and then stop going, providing poor excuses for not keeping employment. I feel bad for his girlfriend, who pretty much supports him.

I think some people feel like they shouldn't -have- to work and so they don't. Others are just lazy. There are those who try their best and aren't able to work due to legitimate difficulties as well, of course. My dad is one of those people. I know he'd like to go back to work again someday and I hope he can.

I receive disability but also work part-time. I think working is an important thing in one's life. It can give you a sense of purpose, and it feels good to earn money through hard work.
