That is a really terrible situation. It does sound like your boss was a jerk. I don't know why bosses are jerks for some reason. I'm a boss, and I'm sure my employee thinks I'm a jerk. It's something that comes with the territory, I guess.
I hope the next job goes better for you. You don't deserve to be treated like that.
