Then you might want to have a frank, one-on-one discussion with your pastor about it. Reference "James 1:26," and then ask him his thoughts on this situation. Behavior like this should not be tolerated by grown adults in any situation, especially in situations where there are clear rules about this type of behavior.

I know how you feel. Long story short, a "friend" on social networking lied to me about having cancer. I rallied around her, promoting her fundraiser page and sending her every penny I had. Rumors started spreading that she was lying. One manipulative friend decided to start the rumor that I was profiting from it.

When the dust settled, I had lost over $30,000. Even worse, I lost my apartment, I lost my reputation, and I lost EVERY single "friend" that I had on social networking. Everyone, from grade school to college, and current and past co-workers.

I have no friends and have been black-balled from my industry. Nobody will hire me. Nobody will talk to me.

It's horrible.

So I'm with you, in that I'm interested in any pointers that anyone might have when it comes to getting over this type of situation. I'm considering moving to a new state and taking up a new occupation [don't know what yet]. I kind of liked my old life, so it breaks my heart.
