Helllo hxlcyon: I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. It's been many years since I was in college. But I was always perpetually behind. So I have some idea of what that feels like. I'm glad your school is being lenient with you. That must help.

This probably won't come as any revelation to you. But my suggestion is to speak with each of the prof's whose work you're behind on & make some arrangements with them as to how soon you need to / can get caught up. And then, in conjunction with this, write up a schedule for completing each the assignments you're behind in. Then tackle them one or two or so at a time. The thing is... if you look at the whole mess all at once, it likely looks overwhelming. But if you can organize it & just chip away at it a piece at a time (& avoid staring at the whole enchilada, so to speak) it will be easier to work your way back to a point where you're up-to-date.

Hopefully you're also seeing a counselor or therapist. Your best friend's brother's suicide has clearly had a serious impact on you. And it will be important to have someone to process this with. I wish you well...
