I'd find peace if I were the lawyer by picking such cases you know you can't win (but would still get the money). I think most people are going to have the reaction we had of "how can anyone pick on a 6 year old" but since the lawyer isn't going to hear/know "most people" and those in the "system" know he's only doing his job, in a sense he gets to get back at the abuser by taking his money for nothing.

There are some situations though where kids get caught with adults and "have to" lie in order to be safe with their caregiver or some other bastard; there are situations where parents don't think of/protect their kids in the first place and abuse them by making them say certain things, etc. to get back at a spouse, for example. Unfortunately kids are more easy to lead in that way as they can't always figure out what is going on or understand the significance of what they say, etc. I wouldn't want an innocent man to go to jail or have problems because some other %#@&#! adult was using the child in that way.
