'Scuse me for butting in about seizures.

Kiya, I hope they sort out what's going on with you.

Way back when I was a kid I was tested for epilepsy. I don't remember what lead to the testing but I had a couple of EEGs done. Our doc at the time told me I had "pre-epilepsy", whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.
Several years ago I read that folks with DID show epilepsy-like signs on EEGs. At the time no one knew why. I was (am?) dissociative. Today I believe I was having, and still have, "focal awareness seizures." I get this weird sensation inside my head and sort of blank out for a few seconds. I'm still aware of what's going on around me and can respond to things. I've also taught myself how to snap out of it. It's interesting, the Epilepsy Foundation site says these can be caused by head trauma. I got my first concussion at 2 years old when I fell out of my stroller.
Yeah, I said "first concussion." I stopped counting at the ninth one. When I read about football players and the negative effects of the concussion they get I figure I'm doomed.

From the Epilepsy Foundation.

Quote:
An absence seizure causes a short period of “blanking out” or staring into space. Like other kinds of seizures, they are caused by brief abnormal electrical activity in a person’s brain.
An absence seizure is a generalized onset seizure, which means it begins in both sides of the brain at the same time.
An older term is petit mal seizures.
Absence seizures usually affect only a person’s awareness of what is going on at that time, with immediate recovery.

Thanks for this!
