Just make sure you have a doctor's note.
ONce, when I was in my probationary period, I was diagnosed with mono and ordered on bed rest for a couple of weeks. I gave a note to my work from my doctor and I set up remote access to my work computer, and worked as much as I could and made deadlines from home.
I find they are usually willing to work with you if you are on the up and up.
