I get the thoughts and bad memories a lot, especially around anniversaries of certain events. I use mindfulness and meditation. Meditation isn't just sitting on a cushion for 20 minutes. It can be as simple as walking around the block. Just focus on what you're doing now.

Some therapy would help, like CBT and/or DBT.
