Hi Mickey
Well
feeling it can sometimes be real tough with so many negative thoughts which can go around in your head in depression..........but coming to
believe they love you can be a great step in that direction..........and in talking to someone close to you..........maybe they could give you some positive affirmations or reassurance on that score............I don't know, some people are more capable of that than others..........
Otherwise maybe you could break things down a little e.g. can you believe or feel that they care about you, can you believe or feel that they would be there for you
as much as they can be/are capable of, can you believe or feel that they want the best for you..........those kind of things...........and perhaps those questions could add up to believing or feeling their emotions towards you a little more........
And maybe there is some evidence of their feelings towards you if you reflect on some of the things they have done for you/said to you...........perhaps that could help you feel some of the warmth/love they feel towards you...........and I know depression can be cruel so in this please remember that at times most of us will have done/said the wrong thing to someone we love, intentionally or unintentionally so please try not to zoom completely in on the not so good things...........
And maybe you could need them to show their love in some different ways than they do to better feel it?? E.g. if they don't usually hug perhaps tell them that you need a hug right now.........if that isn't usual then it may seem uncomfortable, but it
might be a start........but
any different ways which may help you feel it more.............
Just some thoughts..........
Alison
