If you have a phone in your bedroom, get an inexpensive or "free" dialup (AOL?) for a month or two. I've used isp.com and know it's "good" and inexpensive. I have a dialup account for when I'm travelling and taking my laptop and for backup if my cable has trouble, etc. I use arczip.com and it's my "primary" address, etc. as I don't like my cable company and don't use them for anything but the network hookup, don't have an e-mail address or anything with them.
