I did like the article it explained a lot for me b/c I just didn't have ANYONE who even bothered to explain anything to me.
I always hated when parents would get defensive with that tired phrase:
"Whats the problem? You had food on the table, clothes on your back". Well that would have been nice if in fact that's were true. It was not. That phrase triggers me and I hate it.
But do you want to know something? I have so much anger & resent for the new generation b/c I feel that they're arrogant. I'll need to work on that in therapy. I hate how impolite they are. Sorry I have no patience for the millennials due to the fact of the rigid way I grew up ( which was very unfair & unjust often violating all my rights) so perhaps it could be why I have a problem with them. I don't know if I could be in a relationship with one.
Thank you for that article it helps shed light around the confusion of the generations b/c I have to tell you all I was ALWAYS shamed for the sacrifices the previous generation made & this really damaged my self esteem.
Hello and welcome to PC. I can understand what you are saying here. It is much different than when I grew up as well and the entitlement issues are quiet disturbing. There are a lot of factors that are to blame for that. I've seen friends with their kids running wild and showing no respect to anyone and it seems to be okay with the parents. If I had acted that way when I was there age my parents would have gotten my attention pretty darn quick and gotten that behavior in check. It's just a different time and we can only try to accept that and keep our distance from those people . Yes, therapist certainly have job security Thanks for sharing.
