Hello All,

After 5 hospitalizations in a matter of a year and a half, my husband who has schizoaffective is going to start a 3 day a week intensive outpatient program. Through the program he will be recommended to a new therapist within a few weeks and psychiatrist.

He is covered under my insurance and it is considered "good" commercial insurance. Apparently it is NOT GOOD at all for someone who has a mental health condition! He is going to have to pay the $40 specialist fee three times a week. That's $120 a week just in copays for this. I asked the billing department if there was a payment plan and they said "no because no one would ever pay."

How do people expect us to afford treatment?

He has a social security disability case pending. He was denied initially and now is awaiting a hearing. We have an attorney. She is going to request an On the Record Review. If that doesn't work out, the hearing will probably not be until fall of 2018.

Thoughts?
