A/C guy just left. The unit is running!!! 
The breaker was fine. There was a wire that got fried somehow. I suspect the guy who was here a couple of days ago should have seen it then based on the muttering the guy today was doing.
Thanks for all the cooling suggestions. We did not have A/C for years. I know most of the tricks to cool off. Makes it kind of ironic that I was so mad about the unit going out. Actually, wasn't mad the first day. Manure occurs. It was having it go back out the very next day. I think that some part of me associates no A/C with the bad old days when I was dead broke.
Apokolips, I'd heard the term "swamp cooler", but didn't know what it was. Neat idea!
