it seems these type incicdents are on the rise.. imo its a statement of our culture... we can focus on all positive thigs in our world, and there are many, yet, this type thing really gets our attention, and correctly, it should..
i am glad you're speaking up Rhapsody, as the others in this thread have, and as a i believe any who read it would...
why? is such a good question to ask now.. merely locking up the perps only stops those particular perps... there are more of the same, learning, growing, and ready to unleash themselves on the world... who are these people? what are they about? why are they doing this?
we need to do more than lock them away when we catch them... we need to prevent future incidents, but how?
imo, we need to start by understanding the motives... this is not acceptance, but an investigation into understanding so we ourselves are better equipped to protect those we love...
personally, i feel a lot more can be done on the playgrounds while these children are young.. merely explaining agressive behavior as part of everday life does nothing to address the emotional issues present in these assualtive young people.. locking them up does not prevent further germination when violence is so prevalent in our environment through media...
what is this attraction to violence that these young people seem to possess? why do they have it? where did they learn it?
until we rise and face the true issues, sadly, we can probably expect more of the same...
