When I got my boss everyone told me he was a good guy. And to keep him happy and satisfied I worked extra hard to be a good employee.
- things were done quickly and accurately.
- I went above and beyond by actually getting him language from his peers so it looked like he knew what he was doing.
-I rarely took days off..
But from the start I have wanted to talk about the issue of staying late without notice. On occasion we are required to stay late. And, I am fine with that if, there is a legitimate reason to stay. I had a former boss who use to keep me late all the time for kicks and giggles without ever giving me notice.
So yesterday being a good employee I told my boss of something that did not require we stay late... confident that he would put it over. But, he didn't. I kept trying to get him to do it and he acknowledged that I was giving him the angry look and yet, chose to make me stay late for zero reason.
It wasn't just me... it was several other people who have keep the building open who of course... will blame me.
I don't know how it is that I lose respect but I am not going though this again. I feel like he needs to know today how angry I am and I will be looking for things to send that message.
In fact, I am in my busy season but I am seriously considering dusting off my resume and starting to apply to other jobs. I don't understand why bosses do this. I have wanted to talk to him because I don't understand why he thinks it is ok to keep people late with zero notice. I have to take a train to get home and if I miss the early ones I get stuck on a LATE train. A train with an hour wait and an hour trip.
It should be reserved for the very very very very most important dire situations.
I work an 8 hour day and there is simply ZERO reason that we can't get this stuff done during the day.
Lesson learned the information valve is cut off. If he wants to be the enemy.. I will treat him that way.
