we need to do more than lock them away when we catch them... we need to prevent future incidents, but how?
imo, we need to start by understanding the motives... this is not acceptance, but an investigation into understanding so we ourselves are better equipped to protect those we love...

I couldn't agree more...... for while I am angry that this type of stuff is in our schools - I also can see a broken person who needs a lot of guidance and counseling when I hear about these types of things being performed by our younger generation - Our Future!

And - in a strange turn of events today my oldest son called home after learning about his brothers school being closed early due to the threats (and) after learning that his next door neighbors son was one of the five students that had brutally beaten the other student.
My son found out this information after seeing three police officers at the students house today while they were following up on the investigation - they are trying to obtain names of a few other people that seem to be running this unwanted need for violence.
This male student told my son that he was one of the five student that did the beating and that he is suspended from school and presently on house arrest. *so sad*

From My Side of the Fence
It seems to weird to have one of the students living right next to my sons house...... I personally do not like coincidence happening in this matter - for my youngest son still has to complete five months to graduate from this school come next May 2008.
>>>> It just sends shivers up and down my spine to think of these students being at this school with my son.
